The Vilar Performing Arts Center will welcome multiple Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and world-renowned singer Diana Krall on Wednesday, July 19 at 8:00 PM. Krall has announced a new world tour in support of her recently released and highly-anticipated album “Turn Up the Quiet,” which celebrates a return to jazz and the Great American Songbook for Krall, as well as her reunion with Grammy-winning producer Tommy LiPuma. Tickets start at $163.75 and are available at the VPAC box office (970-845-8497; www.vilarpac.org). The VPAC is located under the ice rink in Beaver Creek Village (68 Avondale Lane, Beaver Creek, Colorado).
Diana Krall is the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. To date, her albums have garnered five Grammy Awards, eight Juno Awards and have also earned nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum albums. Krall’s unique artistry transcends any single musical style and has made her one of the most recognizable artists of our time.
Krall took the jazz world by storm in the late ‘90s and had established herself as a huge success by the turn of the century. As of May 2017, she has fourteen full-length albums to her name, including a live album from Paris, a Christmas album and the best selling “All for You,” a tribute to the Nat King Cole Trio.
Krall famously married British music superstar Elvis Costello in 2003, and has since spent most of the 21st century becoming one of the major voices in modern jazz music, all while translating traditional American standards for the next generation of listeners.
